About The Position

General Position Summary: The YFS – Career Coach is responsible for a variety of duties related to providing skills training and support at work sites including Oregon Department of Human Services branch offices and in private and/or public employer worksites. Skills training includes but not limited to; supporting participant to achieve a goal of employment, schedule planning, self-care, medication management, referrals to mental health/anger management, and assistance with meeting recovery goals. Preference given to bilingual English/Spanish. Status: Temporary, Limited-Duration (Hourly, Non-Exempt). This position is approved for up to 90 days and will not exceed 120 days. Employment in this role is time-limited and automatically ends when the assignment expires. Continuation of employment beyond the limited duration is not guaranteed and is not considered a layoff. Limited-Duration Notice: This is a Temporary Limited-Duration position created to meet short-term program needs. Employment automatically ends at the conclusion of the approved duration, unless extended in writing. The ending of this Limited-Duration assignment does not constitute a layoff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • at least two (2) years' experience or additional education in providing job skills training
  • Must be able to operate a computer with working knowledge of word processing software; including cloud-based software
  • Must have knowledge of standard workplace expectations and soft skills, job search, interviewing and hiring practices
  • Must have current Oregon driver's license, acceptable driving record, and qualify for employer-provided insurance coverage
  • Must pass required criminal history and other background screenings

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) year degree in a related field preferred
  • candidates who demonstrate the ability to assist participants in moving through several key pre-employment stages that employers use to evaluate and on board candidates before hiring them
