About The Position

Job Summary: The Career Coach (CC) is a role that will play an integral part in client success and building partner relationships as a part of our UpSkill OC program. The CC will be responsible for providing vocational training support and case management services to transitional age youth between the ages of 18-28 with the goal of identifying individuals ready and willing to work in middle skills jobs and ensuring they have the training and skills needed to secure and retain employment in high growth, high wage sectors. The successful candidate will have the ability to use independent judgment, exceptional organizational skills, and a willingness to incorporate into their work emerging industry best practices and techniques.

Requirements

  • Passion for Chrysalis’s mission and dedication to serving marginalized or low-income populations.
  • Six months to one year of relevant work experience, in social services, case management or workforce development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, and public speaking skills, with the ability to use tact and diplomacy in all interactions and effectively represent Chrysalis to external audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and self-motivated, with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse lifestyles and backgrounds.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Proficient in internet research and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn additional applications and case management systems as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on organizational needs and to travel to meetings, other sites, and co-location centers as necessary (mileage reimbursed).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarization with WIOA Title I (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and CalJOBS strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day case oversight for both working and non-working clients, including career planning and training discussions.
  • Conduct client assessments covering job readiness, substance abuse, legal, mental/physical health histories, and provide appropriate referrals for education, training, and social services.
  • Deliver personalized job readiness support, such as resume building, interview preparation, job application guidance, and computer skills tutorials.
  • Assist clients in navigating and succeeding in vocational training programs, including paperwork completion, scholarships, and addressing challenges during training.
  • Lead job preparation classes and related seminars as needed.
  • Maintain and update referral resources to support client training and employment search efforts.
  • Coordinate client workshop attendance and program enrollment with partner education/training institutions.
  • Work closely with partner agencies, including Orange County United Way, OC Workforce Solutions, and Goodwill OC, to ensure effective delivery of programming.
  • Conduct outreach to develop on-the-job training sites and identify suitable training opportunities for clients.
  • Collaborate with local One Stop Centers to co-enroll clients in supportive services as needed.
  • Maintain a directory of available training programs, including requirements, enrollment processes, and program details.
  • Partner with internal departments to align client training with employment opportunities.
  • Track and document client progress, services provided, and outcomes in the Salesforce database and CalJOBS.
  • Collect and prepare all client eligibility documents as required for grant enrollment.
  • Work closely with the Policy and Government Relations team to monitor CalJOBS enrollments and ensure partner data compliance.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to monitor client and program performance.
  • Streamline enrollment processes with training providers to facilitate client access to opportunities.
  • Evaluate client education, skills, and job interests to match them with appropriate training or services.
  • Adhere to all Chrysalis policies and procedures.
  • Support the Chrysalis Mission and adhere to the Chrysalis Code of Ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
