About The Position

The Georgia Department of Labor is currently seeking qualified applicants to be considered for a Career Center Unit Supervisor position in the Douglas Career Center in Douglas, GA. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Plans, monitors and organizes work Plans and assigns staff workload Demonstrates efficient and adaptable use of resources to ensure quality customer service Monitors assigned programs to ensure policies and procedures are followed (i.e., UI, ES, Veterans, Trade Ensures documentation, reports, and records are completed and submitted Promotes staff development Identifies training needs Initiates cross training Creates opportunities for staff to demonstrate leadership skills Performance management Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals Adheres to performance management process timelines Confers regularly with staff and provides specific feedback Communicates information timely and effectively Relays information to staff in a clear and concise manner Informs management of staff ideas, issues, and/or concerns Ensures staff adheres to agency rules, regulations, and policies Attends meetings and training as required to maintain knowledge of policies Communicates current rules, regulations, and policies to staff (e.g., workplace safety, workers compensation processes, electronic communications) Employee relations Fosters a team environment Conducts Staff Coaching/Progressive discipline Reviews time charges to ensure accurate distribution Conducts staff meetings at least twice a month Monitors, reviews and approves staff leave Collaborates with workforce system partners Collaborates with public and private agencies to promote awareness of GDOL services Identifies other workforce system services and ensures appropriate staff are informed of resources available to customers

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and six (6) years of job-related experience, which includes two (2) years in a lead worker, team lead, or supervisory role; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Employment Svcs Spec 3 (SSP092) or position equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of Unemployment Insurance Experience or High School Diploma and 5 years of experience in Unemployment Insurance.
  • 5 years of Supervisor experience.
