About The Position

The Instructional Specialist of Career and Technology Education (CTE) supports the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of Career and Technology Education programs within Charles County Public Schools. Working under the direction of the Director, this position ensures consistent program implementation and compliance with all requirements. The Instructional Specialist manages day-to-day program operations, supports school-based staff, and ensures accurate reporting aligned with Maryland State Department of Education requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or administrative leadership experience in career and technology education, preferably at the school system level
  • Demonstrates knowledge of career and technology education programs and current trends
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives
  • Experience with grant writing and program funding
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and coordination for all Career and Technology Education programs, including technology education and JROTC
  • Leads curriculum development and revision aligned to standards
  • Collaborates with school leaders to assess program effectiveness
  • Develops and manages budgets and grant-funded initiatives
  • Coordinates the selection of instructional materials and equipment
  • Plans and delivers professional development
  • Supports principals and teachers in program implementation
  • Builds partnerships with business and community organizations
  • Oversees Tech Prep and career pathway initiatives
  • Serves as liaison to MSDE for compliance and reporting
  • Ensures equitable access to programs
  • Maintains accountability for inventory and reporting
  • Implements program monitoring and compliance systems
  • Advises teachers on certification and program development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
