Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Career and Technical Education (CTE) Auto Tech Teacher for its high school Automotive Technology program. This position is crucial in providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the automotive industry. The Automotive Technology program is designed for students in grades 10-12 and follows a series of prescribed courses that align with industry standards. The curriculum is based on the nationally recognized Automotive Service Education (ASE) program certification standards, focusing on four key areas: Steering & Suspension, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, and Engine Performance. Students enrolled in this program will have the opportunity to earn certifications in these areas and may also secure internships within the automotive service industry. As a CTE Auto Tech Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering rigorous and relevant instruction through a hands-on curriculum that prepares students for both postsecondary education and employment in the automotive field. You will integrate soft-skill instruction into competency-based activities, support students in industry-relevant competitions, and collaborate with core content teachers to ensure alignment and integration of learning objectives. Additionally, you will work closely with school-based staff, including college and career coaches, to identify and recommend work-ready students. Professional development is a key component of this role, and you will be expected to attend various training sessions and meetings to enhance your teaching practices and maintain industry certifications as required by the Illinois State Board of Education and CPS.
