As the Career Adviser at SCAD, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students and alumni through their career journeys. This position involves hosting one-on-one career advising sessions where you will provide personalized advice on career preparation, portfolio development, and professional development. You will be expected to create engaging, industry-specific programming and workshops that cater to the diverse needs of students and alumni. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with faculty and student organizations to develop major-specific professional development events that enhance the career readiness of students. In addition to advising, you will act as a liaison with industry partners, ensuring that students receive superior service during on-campus recruiting visits. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the planning and execution of department events such as the Career Fair and Out to Launch, which are crucial for connecting students with potential employers. You will be tasked with reviewing resumes, cover letters, and portfolios submitted through the SCAD Job Portal, providing constructive feedback to help students improve their application materials. Furthermore, you will be responsible for tracking and reporting all student and alumni career success and career planning progress through web software, ensuring that the department maintains accurate records of its impact on student outcomes.
