About The Position

Independently performs all patient access and registration functions along with scheduling and clerical/receptionist duties in collaboration with the Medical Imaging team. Works in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards. Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties.

Requirements

  • High School completion / GED
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the various departments/areas served
  • Knowledge of radiation safety
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be exposed to aggressive, violent behaviors from patients, family members, and/or visitors
  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids, including those with tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, or body infestations
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions which may occur in emergency situations or with a heavy workload
  • Exposed to ionizing radiation

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in related healthcare or business.
  • One year experience in a medical/patient care environment

Responsibilities

  • Greets and interviews outpatients in a respectful and timely manner.
  • Schedules appointments and completes registration by collecting and entering all pertinent financial and demographic information into the ADT system. Verifies insurance benefit information, generates an ABN if necessary, reviews orders for compliancy, completes the MSP, and obtains financial treatment consents.
  • Places ordered medical procedures in EMR, and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of imaging procedures. Independently performs all other assigned clerical tasks, and receptionist functions in collaboration with the Medical Imaging Team.
  • Answers questions regarding procedures, informs patients and families of exam status or delays. Promptly notifies technical areas of patient arrival.
  • Assists with the coordination of patient flow and activities of the Medical Imaging area to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Strictly follows all safety practices and policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of the locations, and operations of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follows radiation safety policies and procedures
