Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in mental health settings preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years MA experience working in a healthcare setting required.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Comfortable using telehealth platforms and digital communication tools.
  • High-speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software and patient management systems.
  • Fluent in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake interviews to gather medical history and current mental health concerns.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments for patients with mental health professionals.
  • Assist in managing and updating electronic health records (EHR) with accurate patient information.
  • Provide administrative support by handling phone calls, emails, and other communication related to patient care.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and mental health providers, ensuring timely follow-ups and responses.
  • Prepare and distribute educational materials and resources to patients regarding mental health conditions and treatments.
  • Monitor and manage patient portals, ensuring patients have access to necessary information and services.
  • Assist with billing and insurance claims processing for mental health services.
  • Conduct follow-up calls or messages to patients to ensure treatment adherence and gather feedback.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and other relevant legal requirements.
  • Support mental health professionals in preparing documentation and reports for patient care planning.
  • Assist in triaging patient inquiries and managing crisis situations by directing them to appropriate resources or personnel.
