Position Summary The Care Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists through a wide range of responsibilities that are crucial to the delivery of Longitude Rx’s high-quality specialty pharmacy services aimed at improving care coordination and patient outcomes. Serving as a key operational link between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance partners, this role helps reduce administrative barriers that delay therapy initiation through facilitating communication, coordinating and conducting prior authorizations, and identifying and arranging financial assistance for patients. A core responsibility includes working extensively within the Multi-Step Order Transmittal (MSOT) work queue. Proficiency with MSOT is essential, as the Care Coordinator helps optimize its use and improve workflow efficiency. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this position requires attention to detail, regulation compliance and the ability to thrive in an environment that values accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a pharmacy environment
  • Prior authorization experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple authorization requests simultaneously.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities to navigate complex payer requirements and resolve denials.
  • High level of organization and follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a startup, high-growth environment that requires flexibility, ownership, and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Licenses and Certifications: Pharmacy Technician Certificate preferred.
  • Experience handling specialty medications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review, process, and manage prior authorization requests for specialty medications to minimize delays in care.
  • Assist patients in identifying and securing financial assistance options, including copay support and foundation-based aid.
  • Facilitate seamless communication between healthcare providers, pharmacists, and other members of the care team to proactively resolve barriers to medication access and delivery.
  • Leverage the Multi-Step Order Transmittal (MSOT) work queue to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Use MSOT work queue to review prescription orders, verify benefit coverage, address order restrictions, and select appropriate pharmacies for fulfillment.
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility through comprehensive intake and benefits investigation processes.
  • Communicate directly with healthcare providers, payers, and patients to gather, validate, and submit required clinical and administrative documentation.
  • Track, document, and maintain accurate records of prior authorization submissions, approvals, denials, and appeals within electronic systems.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding authorizations to ensure timely payer determinations and continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain working knowledge of payer policies, regulatory requirements, and authorization guidelines relevant to specialty medications.
  • Support onboarding and knowledge sharing by assisting with training and mentoring new team members on prior authorization workflows and best practices.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance authorization turnaround times, data accuracy, and patient experience.
