About The Position

This position provides substance abuse assessment and counseling services to individuals with a mental illness with a co-occurring substance use/abuse diagnosis. Family members of the patient may also receive counseling/education regarding substance use and the interference with the care and stability of the patient’s mental illness. The LCDC must be able to provide individual/family and small group chemical dependency counseling, have knowledge of community resources, and support sobriety and relapse prevention. This position is responsible for coordinating referrals to inpatient Rehabilitation programs and provides continuity of care upon patient’s return to outpatient services. Other Responsibilities include assessing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and linking patients to community resources and service providers. The Care Coordinator also provides skills building, psychosocial rehab and crisis intervention services. Other key responsibilities for this position consist of developing the recovery plan and completing the Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) or Children’s Assessment of Needs and Strengths (CANS) for patients on the assigned caseload. Documentation and assessments must meet all applicable standards and established performance benchmarks. This position reports directly to the Clinic Manager or designee. The LCDC performs other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager or designee. Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Must have excellent engagement, time management and organizational skills. Routine hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday with flexibility for schedule changes to allow for appointments and group services outside of routine work hours. The LCDC is responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the Center compliance policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, educational psychology, early childhood intervention, gerontology, human growth and development, medicine, nursing, physician assistant, psychology, rehabilitation, social work, sociology, or special education.
  • Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in good standing.
  • Texas driver’s license in good standing as defined by Texana Center’s procedure.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of work experience post license providing direct services within a Behavioral Health or Social Service setting.
  • 1 year of work experience providing direct services within a Behavioral Health or Social Service setting.
  • Spanish speaking.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $23.02 per hour.
  • Salary increase to $24.30 per hour at 6 months with satisfactory performance.
  • Salary increase to $25.58 per hour at 1 year with satisfactory performance.
