About The Position

The Care Coordinator - Auth - Scheduling Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting patients and providers by coordinating referrals, obtaining necessary authorizations, and scheduling appointments. This position ensures that patients receive the appropriate care by understanding their insurance benefits and facilitating communication between various healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and medical necessity policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical records software preferred.
  • Customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
  • May coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
  • Obtains all authorizations needed for patient care.
  • Directs patients to providers within their insurance plan.
  • Reviews benefits and educates patients on their insurance coverage.
  • Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Reviews schedules and confirms that they are accurate and that time is properly allocated.
  • Follows up on all referrals to ensure there are no care gaps.
