About The Position

The Care Coordinator Auth Scheduling Specialist position is a full-time, benefits-eligible hybrid role within the GCMG CNSA: Charlotte - Surgery: Neurosurgery Department, working Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. This role is crucial for managing patient referrals, coordinating with various medical practices and departments, and ensuring all necessary authorizations are obtained. The specialist will guide patients through their insurance plans, review benefits, and educate them on coverage. Key responsibilities also include coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, and other services with internal and ancillary providers, as well as reviewing schedules for accuracy and following up on referrals to prevent care gaps. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Computer experience required.
Customer service experience required.

Nice To Haves

Thorough understanding of Insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies preferred.
Knowledge of medical records software preferred.

Responsibilities

Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
May coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
Obtains all authorizations needed.
Directs patients to providers in their insurance plan.
Reviews benefits and educates patient on insurance coverage.
Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers.
Reviews schedules and confirms schedules are accurate and time is properly allocated.
Follows up on all referrals to ensure no care gaps.
