About The Position

Creates new and maintains or enhances existing relationships with referral sources in our service area with the primary objective of growing hospice/palliative care appropriate referrals. Engages health care professionals and community organizations and facilities to provide valuable information and promote HIA Health. Also develops a territory sales and marketing plan to generate referrals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration.
  • Healthcare professional or individual with referral development, Marketing or sales background preferably in the healthcare environment, with a minimum of two years of experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to create leads.
  • Able to maintain an organized approach to territory management and work with limited supervision.
  • Able to support and promote the Hospice philosophy to referral sources in the medical industry.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Current driver’s license and auto insurance required

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for those with prior healthcare experience as an LPN, CNA, MA, SW, etc.
  • Formal sales training highly preferred.
  • Hospice/LTC experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes growth and profitability of company, census growth, and market development through responsible use of marketing materials and other resources.
  • Promotes HIA Health though professional organizations and community development and actively participates in community activities to represent HIA Health by preparing and conducting calls and presentations to potential referral sources.
  • Promotes utilization of hospice services and understanding of the hospice Medicare/Medicaid/Private health Ins. benefit.
  • Responsible for marketing and educating the professional community referral sources about Hospice services, access to hospice care and delivery of end-of-life care.
  • Responsible for the provision and evaluation of service information related to admissions.
  • Primary function is to develop appropriate referrals through relationship building, acquisition, retention and growth of business with referral sources.
  • Learns and executes the company’s consultative strategy to build sustainable relationships with targeted referral sources.
  • Analyzes referral patterns and trends and utilizes this data to improve results.
  • Identifies key referral sources and conducts outside sales calls to potential and existing referral sources.
  • Prioritizes accounts in accordance with the marketing strategic plan.
  • Generates referrals by creating new and maintaining existing relationships with physicians and other medical professionals, community and senior organizations, hospitals, appropriate special interest groups, discharge planners, nursing home professionals, assisted living facilities, and other potential referral sources in assigned territory to promote HIA Health services.
  • Identifies competitors and analyze strengths and weaknesses of area competition.
  • Prioritizes and maintains territory strategies based on referral sources.
  • Participates in strategic planning for assigned territory.
  • Takes initiative to develop and maintain relationships with clinical staff to assure effective communication between the marketing and clinical teams.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective channels of communication to promote positive working relationships with patients, families, referral sources, physicians and community service agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and interruptions.
  • Travels as needed.
  • Speaking in groups to educate and increase awareness regarding the utilization and benefit provided with hospice and palliative care services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the admissions department as well as clinical personnel to assure effective communication both internally and externally for our referral customers.
  • Maintains an organized approach to territory management.
  • Maintains a professional personal appearance.
  • Coordinates all aspects from organization through implementation and follow up of events with an education focus.
  • Hosts booths for health care focused exhibits (i.e. those at facilities, health care conferences, those sponsored by heath care organizations.)
  • Collaborates with education specialists in planning, scheduling, and attending external education to referral sources.
  • Collaborates with marketing department to support success of referral development.
  • Effectively uses Playmaker, CRM, daily entries, and report interpretation.
  • Build lasting relationships with other healthcare providers, discharge planners, physicians, and case managers to facilitate referrals and admissions.
  • Ability to create trust, collaboration, and communication with all members of the health care delivery team.
  • Regularly meets and informs the operational and clinical teams of new patient referrals and receives updates regarding the referred patients.
  • Engages with referral/admission team to promote care coordination and a timely admission process.
  • Receives updates regarding referred patients and assists in care transitions.
  • Understands and maintains HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
  • Assists in obtaining doctors signatures for hospice admission.
  • Assists in the resolution of issues between families, referral sources, patients, and the agency.
  • Follows company policies to ensure consistent and compliant job performance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
