About The Position

This position is the primary supervisor responsible for overseeing Care Center Operations and ensuring that the preparation and presentation of the deceased meets regulatory, organizational and client family expectations within a designated business or group of businesses.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as a licensed Embalmer.
  • Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • High degree of overall computer proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective and professional communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal skills and the ability to resolve and respond to issues in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and working environment through organization and communication.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through personal community involvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, community leaders, and grieving client families.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Valid Embalmer’s license preferred.
  • Valid Funeral Director’s License highly preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Trains and supervises employee(s) who prepare and embalm decedents in conformity with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Responsible for the daily scheduling and activities of the care center and embalming personnel.
  • Instructs staff on the proper and safe usage of embalming instruments and machinery in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Oversees the dressing, cosmetology and casket processes.
  • Ensures that remains are placed in visitation room and verifies that viewings are set up to comply with client family wishes.
  • Oversees preparation of decedents for transportation as needed.
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment and adheres to relevant operational and safety procedures.
  • Ensures all prep room supplies, equipment and chemical substances are stored, utilized and maintained in accordance with applicable laws and organizational guidelines.
  • Answers questions and assists with serving the needs of client families.
  • Ensures proper paperwork, including permits, logs, identification tags, and certificates are completed accurately and timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conducts and/or attends all required safety training meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintains inventory and ensure preparation room and refrigeration unit are clean.
  • Instructs and oversees work of Apprentice Embalmers on cases and paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
