About The Position

The Care Assistant role at Children's Mercy involves providing basic patient care and supporting unit operations under the supervision of registered nurses. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• No experience necessary; on-the-job training provided in patient or customer-facing roles.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred, or meet one of the following criteria: enrolled in a nursing education program, previously a nursing licensure candidate, completed an UAP program, completed a nursing program outside the U.S., or worked as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician within the past 3 years.
• Required BLS certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides supportive patient care.
• Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations.
• Performs unit secretary/clerical functions.
• Attends education programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees.
• Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skills).
