About The Position
At Children's Mercy, Care Assistants play a vital role in providing basic, uncomplicated patient care and assisting with unit and department operations under the supervision of registered nurses. This position is essential in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care in a safe and supportive environment. Care Assistants are responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall well-being of our patients, including providing supportive patient care, maintaining a safe environment, and promoting efficient operations within the unit. In addition to direct patient care, Care Assistants also perform clerical functions as Unit Secretaries, attend educational programs, participate in unit meetings, and contribute to assigned committees. They share the responsibility for teaching and orienting new personnel within their skill set, fostering a collaborative and educational atmosphere within the team. This role is particularly important in a pediatric setting, where compassion and understanding are paramount in dealing with children and their families.
