About The Position

The Cardio Catheterization Technician 3 performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians during cardiovascular procedures and surgeries. This includes EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring, and preparing sterile procedure trays and patient sterile fields. The role involves operating physiologic and radiographic equipment, maintaining procedure room readiness, and accurately documenting patient data. The technician will perform basic Electrophysiology (EP) procedures, operate EP recording and mapping systems independently, and assist physicians with EP diagnostic and advanced mapping systems, as well as pulsed field ablation techniques. Additionally, this position is responsible for mentoring and training new staff, participating in unit-based practice councils, and contributing to quality and safety committees for Electrophysiology (EP). Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist the physicians during cardiovascular procedures and surgeries
  • Perform EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring
  • Prepare sterile procedure tray and patient sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type
  • Operate physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Maintain responsibility for procedure room preparation and breakdown duties
  • Acquire and accurately document pertinent patient data on encounter form and enters hemodynamic and X-ray systems
  • Perform basic Electrophysiology (EP) procedures
  • Operate Electrophysiology (EP) recording and EP Mapping Systems independently
  • Assist physician with Electrophysiology (EP) Diagnostic and Mapping systems
  • Assist physician with advanced mapping systems and pulsed field ablation techniques
  • Mentor, train, and be responsible for the successful completion of orientating new staff
  • Participate in unit-based practice council
  • Participate in quality and safety committee for Electrophysiology (EP)
  • Maintain established professional standards and observe all safety requirements to achieve a high level of quality patient care
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
