Provides support to physician performing non-invasive and/or invasive cardiovascular procedures.
Requirements
- Vocational or Technical school Diploma required
- Specialized license and/or certification, required
- Current Basic Life Support Professional Certification, or Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification required
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of duties to prepare unit for non-invasive and/or invasive cardiovascular procedures
- Ensures all instrumentation/equipment for each procedure is presented on table in established fashion
- Prepares sterile field for procedures and adheres to aseptic technique, as required. Obtains and prepares physician equipment for procedure to be performed
- Prepares patient for procedure. Responds to patients questions alleviating concerns regarding procedure. Ensures patient is correctly prepped and draped in a sterile fashion. Enters patient and procedural information into computer system
- Monitors patient status during procedure, including hemodynamic data, electrocardiogram, blood pressure, chest pain, etc
- Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physicians interpretation of results
- Balances, calibrates and records appropriate hemodynamic data as well as intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies
- Operates equipment properly in a reliable manner, per departmental standards, complying with all safety guidelines/policies
