Get to Know Your Team: Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services, and more.

Requirements

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a General Medical Radiologic Technologist (GMRT); OR Registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT).
Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology or an accredited school of cardiovascular technology.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

Nice To Haves

Ability to operate medical equipment, including diagnostic x-ray equipment, contrast power injector, CPACS, hemodynamic equipment, and electrophysiology equipment.
Previous employment as a cardiovascular technologist.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performance of all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular examinations.
Explains cardiovascular procedure to the patient and / or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
Obtains patient’s history prior to cardiovascular procedure.
Performs imaging and table side assistance for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Does not energize or exposes patient to radiation unless credentialed by Texas Department of State Health Services.
Operates hemodynamics system, entering patient’s demographics, and monitoring, recording, mapping and documenting patient information prior, during and after procedure.
Performs stress electrocardiograms providing physician with quality tracings.
Adheres to appropriate radiation safety, practicing the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
Serves as patient advocate and ensures patient autonomy.
Enters and retrieves patient information from the Cardiology Picture Archiving Communication System (CPACS) and from the Hospital Information System (HIS) in a proficient manner.
Provides minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Establishes IV access. Seeks additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.
