About The Position

This position is PRN, rotating, at Bloomington Hospital. Responsibilities include cardiac rhythm-based technical support for Non- Invasive Cardiovascular Services, including recording and processing 12- lead electrocardiograms (EKG), continuous monitoring of patient cardiac rhythms and reporting of critical information (cardiac surveillance), review of 24- and 48-hour rhythm recordings and compiling reports for physician review (ambulatory monitoring). May monitor patient's rhythm and status and operating equipment during exercise testing (stress testing). May support the organization IV services by acting as a second-tier source for starting IV's and drawing labs. Requires high school graduate or equivalent. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Coursework in EKG; rhythm interpretation; anatomy; physiology or other related courses preferred. Experience as an EKG technician; Cardiac Surveillance Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Cardiovascular Technician; Phlebotomist; Paramedic or equivalent position or a certificate of completion or degree related to rhythm analysis or exercise physiology or related allied health field preferred. Requires basic computer operations experience and some familiarity with software programs such as Word; Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of electrocardiograph procedures and the EKG manifestations of the entire variety of cardiac arrhythmias in order to identify and effectively communicate significant and/or life threatening cardiac rhythms preferred. Requires the ability to balance and manage carrying-out multiple tasks simultaneously. Requires ability to utilize automated menu system to manipulate; process and enhance patient information. Requires ability to recognize and trouble-shoot equipment problems in order to ensure adequate signal and know when to request support from Clinical Engineering. #LI-Onsite

Requirements

  • high school graduate or equivalent
