As a Cardiovascular Technician within our Cardiac Cath lab at Banner Del Webb Medical Center, there are exciting opportunities to be a part of the health care transformation. The Cardiovascular Technician is an important part of the Cath lab team and is responsible for many duties, including preparing patients and work areas for procedures and stocking and replenishing supplies. Must have 2-years clinical experience, and current BLS and ACLS certifications. The position works four 10-hour shifts and includes a night, holiday and weekend call requirement. With 391 licensed beds, the hospital provides a wide range of services, including acute medical and surgical services as well as intensive care, emergency and urgent care, inpatient/outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, neurology, orthopedics, oncology, urology, pulmonary, obstetrics and gynecology, outpatient diagnostic services, and adult behavioral services. POSITION SUMMARY This position assists physicians and collaborates with other health professionals during the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care reatment to patient population.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Certification for BLS required.
  • ACLS may be required depending on assignment.
  • This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • The position requires the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
  • The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the health care staff and patient.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a Cardiac Cath Lab and certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists during the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures to treat heart disease in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Prepares patients and work area for procedures in accordance with departmental policies. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case for correct instruments and supplies. Plans ahead for upcoming case needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and techniques, i.e. knowledge of normal and abnormal ECG rhythms and/or lead changes, various hemodynamic values, normal and abnormal pressures, ST elevation/depression. Monitors and records ECG and pressure waves during the procedures. Provides other aspects of patient care as needed.
  • Demonstrates the principles of aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.
  • Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning.
  • Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the scope of practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Adheres to all safety policies.
  • This position works under the direction of a physician or other health care professional. Internal customers: Physicians, all levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.
