About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, assists and scrubs on all Cardiac Cath Lab procedures utilizing all standards for quality and patient safety. Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to JCAHO, federal, and state regulations. Actively participates in the routine checks of clinical, electronic, and all other equipment used in the department within the scope of practice. Participates in and encourages teamwork to provide patient-focused care. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited cardiovascular technician program preferred.
  • CPR required and ACLS preferred within 12-24 months of hire date.
  • 1 year patient care experience required.
  • Able to assist and scrub, at a proficient level, all procedures related to the department in both acute and stable patients.
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic, radiology and clinical equipment within the scope of practice.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot various types of radiology and computer equipment.
  • Ability to perform department specific skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as scrub assistant or hemodynamic/documentation monitor on all procedures working closely with the physicians and direct care staff communicating pertinent patient information to provide patient focused care.
  • Assists in the care of patients by providing timely, accurate, precise patient testing results.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary task teams, as assigned, to provide the continuum of care to patients.
  • Able to document all pertinent patient information as needed within the scope of practice.

  • Participates in performance improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, team satisfaction, and patient outcomes, performing surveys as necessary.
  • Assists families and patients by teaching the skills and information necessary for successful patient care, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn.
  • Develop personal annual educational plan with continuing education of either hospital based or approved outside resources.
  • Able to operate all equipment efficiently in the department to include imaging, electronic and computer equipment utilized in the department within the scope of practice.
  • Assists with Cath Lab procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Able to troubleshoot and assess equipment failure and provide a backup plan when needed.
  • Assures that all supplies are available as needed for each procedure.
  • Assists with surgical procedures, i.e. pacemaker, implantable defibrillators, TAVR, etc. in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Serves as a technical resource to co-workers and aids in the resolution of technical problems.
  • Provides training to fellow staff on new procedures methodologies as needed.
  • Ensures that all information and calculations required are accurately labeled prior to documenting into the hemodynamic monitor system.
  • Adheres to hospital policy and procedures in regards to radiation safety and protection of self, staff, physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Able to take call as required to meet the demands of the department.
  • Works cohesively with all staff to create and maintain a work schedule suitable for the needs of the organization.
  • Delegates appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice.
  • Develop and maintain positive and open relationships with staff and team leader to provide quality patient focused care.
  • Serves as a participant to meet all regulatory agency guidelines both on the state and the federal level, which includes JCAHO, CLIA, Medicare, and all other agencies.
  • Demonstrates willingness to learn new techniques and assume additional responsibilities as needed within the scope of practice.
  • Adheres to the behavioral standards.
  • Strives to be effective and utilize resources efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
