About The Position

The Cardiovascular Tech RCIS primary responsibility is to assist with technical aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures under the direction of the supervisor and physician. This role involves a variety of tasks including assisting in teaching and orientation of students and new staff, monitoring patient status during procedures, and operating imaging equipment. The position requires a strong understanding of medications, procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems. The Cardiovascular Tech will also be responsible for preparing the lab and patients for procedures, maintaining sterile techniques, and ensuring effective inventory control in the cath lab.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree with a science emphasis or commensurate healthcare experience.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
  • RCIS certified within six months of date of hire.
  • ARRT and TX RT(R) required in lieu of RCIS.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff.
  • Assists physician as a monitor tech during procedures by interpreting dysrhythmia and EKGs and operating physiologic recorder.
  • Operates imaging equipment under the direction of the physician during procedures.
  • Monitors patient status during procedures as a circulator and hands supplies to the scrub tech.
  • Cleans and stocks the cath lab.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages used in procedures.
  • Orders supplies for the cath lab and demonstrates effective inventory control.
  • Removes arterial and/or venous sheath post-procedure, maintains hemostasis, and monitors patient status.
  • Prepares the lab for procedures by setting up and maintaining sterile technique.
  • Prepares patients for procedures by shaving, prepping, and marking arterial pulses.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems.
