About The Position

The Cardiovascular Sonographer - PRN position at Bronson involves conducting echocardiograms to produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures. This role is essential for assisting physicians in diagnosing heart and peripheral vascular diseases. The position requires working under general supervision and following established procedures, ensuring that all tests are performed according to laboratory protocols and guidelines. The sonographer will also be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to department policies for environmental safety and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • College level courses in Echocardiography with extensive technical training/experience in anatomy and disease.
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's Degree in Echocardiography from an accredited college preferred.
  • Must hold RDCS, RVT, or CCI registry from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or be registry-eligible.
  • BLS required upon hire or within six months of hire.
  • Basic PC skills to operate the database and office programs used in the department.

  • Experience in pediatric echocardiography.
  • Ability to work well within a small work group and communicate effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct echocardiograms producing two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses.
  • Perform transesophageal echo, stress echo, and transthoracic echocardiograms on patients of all ages.
  • Ensure requested procedures correlate with the patient’s clinical history and symptoms.
  • Recognize abnormalities and obtain additional images as needed for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Document and transmit pertinent diagnostic and patient data into the digital archive system.
  • Maintain professional credentials and complete required echo-specific continuing medical education (CME).
  • Participate in ongoing departmental quality assurance processes.
  • Familiarize patients with tests to be performed and prepare them accordingly.
  • Adjust equipment controls and move transducer over patient's cardiac windows to acquire data.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and implement department/hospital policies.
