The Cardiovascular perfusionist is primarily focused on clinical support with the management of cardiopulmonary bypass, supporting mechanical circulatory technologies as well as participate in blood conservation strategies in collaboration with our surgical and ICU team. They will need to be proficient and up to date with modern platforms, have strong communication skills and use teamwork to ensure patient safety. The perfusionist we will aid in education, working with staff to advance practical knowledge, safety and strategies to improve patient outcomes. Beyond clinical responsibilities the perfusionist would be responsible for equipment care, turnover, sampling / monitoring as well as participate in scheduled department meetings. Requirements

  • CCP degree - Graduate of an accredited perfusion education program (certified through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion) is required.
  • New graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • 1–3+ years of independent adult cardiac perfusion experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with ECMO, cell salvage, and advanced blood management strongly preferred.
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) (or board-eligible with certification obtained within agreed timeframe).
  • Current New York State license (or eligibility; must be secured prior to start).
  • BLS and ACLS required (or within 90 days of hire).
  • Light to medium work: The ability to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as move/position equipment (with assistance as needed).
  • Manual dexterity and visual/auditory acuity sufficient for equipment operation and monitoring.
  • Use of PPE in sterile and semi-restricted environments.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
