About The Position

Your job is more than a job. The Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting in the care and preparation of cardiovascular surgical patients by preparing the operating room, selecting and handling instruments, and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures. This position requires advanced knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, including open heart, thoracic, and vascular cases, and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-acuity surgical environment. Your Everyday Prepare the CVOR with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to surgical procedures. Assist cardiovascular surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and providing appropriate instruments. Maintain a sterile surgical field and follow proper aseptic techniques throughout procedures. Collaborate closely with RNs, perfusionists, anesthesiologists, and surgical team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care. Set up and troubleshoot specialized equipment, including heart-lung machines, endoscopic tools, and vascular graft materials. Perform instrument counts with the circulating nurse per hospital policy to ensure no retained items. Handle and care for surgical specimens appropriately. Participate in post-procedure cleanup, including decontamination and sterilization of instruments. Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and instrument usage as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience as a Surgical Tech
  • CVOR experience

Nice To Haves

  • Current ACLS certification
