About The Position

We are seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity cardiac surgical team in the Sanford, Florida area. This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment supporting open-heart, vascular, and hybrid cardiovascular procedures, with approximately 10–15 open-heart cases per month. When not in the cardiac OR, you’ll assist in general operating room cases, giving you exposure to a variety of surgical specialties. The ideal candidate is a confident cardiac OR nurse who values precision, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in Florida or Compact State (with Florida endorsement within 60 days if relocating)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR experience in an acute care hospital
  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • PALS or ENPC certification within 6 months of hire
  • CNOR or specialty cardiovascular nursing certification
  • Experience assisting in high-volume cardiac OR programs

Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative care for cardiovascular surgical patients, including pre-, intra-, and post-procedure responsibilities.
  • Circulate and scrub for open-heart and vascular procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, perfusionists, and anesthesia providers to ensure optimal workflow.
  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively, recognizing and responding to changes in condition promptly.
  • Prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies necessary for complex CV procedures.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate documentation and communication across care teams.
  • Participate in call rotation, responding within 30 minutes when called in.
  • Educate patients and families regarding the surgical process and recovery expectations.
