About The Position

The position involves performing most cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams while providing quality patient care using lab physiological and ultrasound equipment. The role includes assisting with clinical rotations in both in-patient and out-patient settings as the schedule dictates and participating in after hours and on-call services. Requirements

  • Associate degree and graduate of a formal sonography program.
  • One (1) year of cardiac and vascular sonography experience performing non-invasive lab studies.
  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements, five (5) years of dedicated cardiovascular lab experience may be considered.
  • Completion of a Director approved sonography program may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Registered in vascular technology (ARDMS-RVT or CCI-RVS).
  • Registered in echocardiography (ARDMS-AE and/or ARDMS-PE or CCI-RCS).
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform most modalities of echocardiography including 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging.
  • Assist qualified physicians with TEE procedures and peripheral vascular studies.
  • Utilize independent judgment during exams to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Follow IAC approved scanning protocols and utilize Smart Protocols when possible.
  • Review images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete and prepared for review.
  • Rotate to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC.
  • Participate in daily workflow by monitoring the sonographer worklist for timely patient care.
  • Schedule exams through the transport system if applicable.
  • Participate in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend, and holiday schedules.
  • Operate lab testing equipment and software packages including ultrasound and physiological equipment.
  • Report equipment issues and maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Attend staff and departmental meetings and educational conferences.
  • Participate in discussions and keep abreast of changes in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
