The Cardiovascular Assistant provides ancillary support to ensure that patients undergoing tests for heart or blood issues receive timely and safe medical care. Working under direct supervision, this role is responsible for re-stocking cardiovascular equipment, sterilizing equipment and transporting patients around the hospital. Manages and re-stocks essential supplies like linen, sterile instruments, and i-stat cartridges to ensure all equipment is available and organized for cardiovascular procedures. Cleans and maintains cardiovascular procedure supplies, including pacemaker instruments, reusable electrophysiology catheters, and cables to ensure patient safety and adherence to medical standards. Delivers items to be reprocessed and sterilized to central processing on a daily basis to ensure equipment is available for daily use. Transports patients in wheelchairs and stretchers between nursing departments and the cardiac catheterization lab to ensure patient comfort and timely access to necessary procedures. Reports any problems encountered during patient pick up/drop off or transport to charge position on nursing unit or the catheterization lab. Performs other duties as assigned.
