About The Position

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This full-time, hospital-employed role supports inpatient services within a high-acuity surgical setting. The APP will work in close collaboration with CT Surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic procedures. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible with a NYS License. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

• Licensed or eligible to practice in the state of New York
• 3-5+ years of Cardiac experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience required in Endoscopic Vein and Artery Harvesting for the full scope opportunity.
• Be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification
• Current NYS Nurse Practitioner licenses OR Current NYS license as a Physician Assistant with prescription privileges.
• Current BCLS, ACLS certifications.

• Active ANCC certification in relevant specialty

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Cardiothoracic ICU and Floor patients
• First assist in CT surgery, Perform EVH using Hemopro system.
• Perform bedside procedures including thoracentesis, central/arterial line placement, chest tube insertion/removal, etc.
• 24/7 in house coverage of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery utilizing 24 hour shifts
• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams
• Manage inpatient care, including daily rounds, care coordination, and discharge planning
• Participate in consults, emergent assessments, and postoperative follow-up
• Provide patient and family education throughout the care continuum
• Collaborate closely with attending surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivist, and nursing staff
