Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an Experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our highly skilled and dedicated cardiac surgery and structural heart team. Our program performs more than 220 open heart and 130 TAVR procedures annually. Mary Washington Hospital has provided cardiothoracic surgery to the greater Fredericksburg region for nearly 30 years and has been recognized as an IBM Watson 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital and TVT STS/ACC 3 Star TAVR program. Be successful with the full complement of a multi-specialty cardiology clinic and team that encompasses Cardiac Surgery, TVAR, Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, and Advanced Imaging. Chronic total occlusion (CTO). Perform a wide array of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to treating patients with adult acquired and congenital cardiac disease, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic surgery, valvular surgery, atrial fibrillation management procedures, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and endovascular aneurysm repair. Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary care team. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of advanced practitioners, physicians, and other members of the healthcare delivery team to provide outstanding comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduate from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited general surgery residency followed by a residency in cardiothoracic surgery OR an accredited integrated general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency.
  • Candidates must be board-eligible or certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
  • Current, unrestricted Commonwealth of Virginia license or licensure eligible
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction
  • Proficiency in a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic surgery, valvular repair and replacement, atrial fibrillation/left atrial appendage management, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
  • Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills are required as well as a strong commitment to providing high quality patient care.
