About The Position

We are seeking a .5 FTE CardioPulmonary Rehab Specialist. Under the supervision of the medical director and manager, the specialist will assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation programs for cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular adult patients. The role involves supervising and monitoring exercise prescriptions and providing education for clients within a multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

• BLS required.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in cardiac rehab or cardiology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Phase I with inpatient ambulation, risk factor education, and instruction in home exercise program.
• Implement medically supervised plan of care for Phase II (outpatient) and Phase III (maintenance) cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients.
• Provide patient intake appointments, including referral follow-up, scheduling, patient orientation, and baseline assessment.
• Provide exercise prescription for patients utilizing assessment data, patient status, and current medication regimen; update prescriptions according to patient response.
• Lead warm-up, endurance, and cool-down exercise.
• Monitor, assess, treat, and document patient tolerance of exercise in accordance with policies and procedures; monitor ECG, blood pressures, rate of perceived exertion.
• Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses, and respond appropriately.
• Update treatment plans and document progress in medical records.
• Assist with patient/family education.
• Maintain and use equipment properly; report to supervisor repair needs and supplies.
• Participate in department meetings and quality metrics and goal attainment, assigned projects, performance improvement plans, and inservices.
• Promote a positive and cooperative atmosphere within the work unit; display adaptability to change.
