This job provides the highest quality, individualized, direct patient care by performing diagnostic procedures such as routine and cardiolyte stress tests, holter monitor set ups and scanning, electrocardiograms (EKG's), Event Recorders, ABI’s and tilt tables. Maintains a positive work relationship with the health care team. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge in cardiology procedures and cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Compentency in required cardiology procedures.
  • Experience with maintaining strict confidentiality, working without direct supervision, and working efficiently and calmly under pressure and handling emergency or crisis situations; may perform emergency care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Responsibilities

  • Enables clinic operations by effectively managing the patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Performs routine and cardiolyte stress tests, holter monitor set-ups and scans, EKG's, Event Recorders, ABI’s and tilt tables.
  • Assesses situations, considers alternatives and chooses appropriate course of action especially in times of need or emergencies.
  • Completes all logs, worksheets and paperwork accurately.
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment assuring a safe and clean working environment, adhering to OSHA standards.
  • Maintains annual regulatory/clinical requirements and documentation per policy (i.e., annual in-service, CPR, TB testing, etc.)
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients in assigned area.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
