ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Cardiology Technician to support the McCandless location. Shift Details: 6am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday Every third weekend and holidays are as assigned Shifts will be further discussed during the interview Responsibilities: Performs 24-hour Holter EKGs, routine EKGs, exercise stress tests, and signal average EKGs and heart variability measurements utilizing proper technique and knowledge of equipment, depending on the skill level, and other duties as directed by the Administrative Director. Instructs patient regarding procedures and obtains consent form where needed. Have the patient sign the consent when applicable. Patient is given instructions regarding all procedures prior to administering services. Observes the patient's physical condition and notifies supervisor and nurse practitioner/attending physician of abnormalities. Utilizes skills of observing patients for any abnormal physical conditions. Notifies nurse practitioner, attending physician, and Cardiology Director. Processes data for interpretation by the Cardiologist by printing out reports including patient's medical diagnosis and cardiac medications. Employee complies with established occupational exposure policies. Adheres to standards pertaining to occupational exposure policies. Review standards as changes occur. Prepares and maintains patient records, cards, and files. Files and cards are kept neat and in proper order and are maintained on a daily basis. Files are pulled yearly. Cleans and cares for supplies and equipment upon completion of work on a routine basis. Assists in cleaning equipment on a weekly basis. Maintains supplies within all areas of responsibility. Cleans work area as required. Assists with clinical duties, handling calls for appointments and routes outgoing correspondence. Schedules patients for all Cardiology services if required. Handles all outgoing and incoming correspondence appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease. Provides quality services and communicates well with all age groups. Understands the disease process as related to illness, including physical and emotional. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be a high school graduate plus satisfactory completion of a medical assistant program, cardiology technician program, or as an LPN if experience requirements are met Approved previous on-the-job training and experience in a Cardiology area, either Hospital setting or physician office may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements Must successfully pass a rhythm recognition exam after completion of a hospital provided course.
