About The Position

Cardiology Technician 1 operates electrocardiography and exercise equipment to record electromotive variations and impulses of the heart.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
  • Eligible for certification by American Cardiology Association in Cardiology Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the clerical operations of the department as required.
  • Assures that properly completed requisitions are available prior to start of study.
  • Attends staff meetings to be informed of all hospital and departmental activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe cardio logical testing procedures that are appropriate to the age and safety needs of the patient population served.
  • Operates electrocardiography equipment throughout the hospital using techniques and styles appropriate to the age and safety needs of the patient population served.
  • Prepares patients for electrocardiographic exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
  • Prepares suitable electrocardiograms for timely interpretation by physicians.
  • Records all patients visits and test performed on the HIS Appointment and Order Entry System.
  • Reschedules outpatient appointments as necessary.
  • Responds to emergency situations using procedures and techniques appropriate to the age of the patient.
  • Schedules all outpatient regular exercise tests in the HIS system.
  • Understands human growth and development principles as they relate to the testing, care, and safety of the patient population being served.
  • Verifies the safety and performance of equipment to be used for patient testing, and verifies preventative maintenance status, prior to use.
  • Transcribes interpreted/read EKG.
  • Processes the reports to either Medical Records (HIM) or patient chart (if in-house).
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
