About The Position

Pediatric Cardiology, Pulmonary Hypertension opportunity The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center a worldwide leader in cardiology care and research, has an exceptional opportunity for a BE/BC Pediatric Cardiologist to join the pulmonary hypertension subsection at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's is an internationally recognized academic center of excellence for Pediatric (congenital and acquired) including Adult Congenital Cardiac Care, clinical and basic science research. The divisions of Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Molecular Cardiovascular Biology are within the Heart Institute to offer a full range of Pediatric Cardiac services within a free-standing not-for-profit tertiary care medical center. We train categorical Pediatric Cardiology and sub-specialty fellows in all areas of congenital heart disease practice (including 1 Pulmonary Hypertension fellow). The successful candidate will contribute to the clinical mission of the Division by providing high‑quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include serving as an attending physician on the Inpatient Pulmonary Hypertension Consult Service and delivering outpatient care for children with pulmonary vascular disease. Additional clinical responsibilities—shaped by both the candidate’s interests and the needs of the Heart Institute—may include attending coverage on the Acute Care Cardiac Unit (ACCU), participation in general cardiology outpatient clinics, and involvement in non‑invasive cardiovascular imaging services. In addition, the applicant will actively participate in Heart Institute clinical and management conferences and engage in teaching and mentorship activities aligned with the educational mission of Cincinnati Children’s and the Heart Institute.

Requirements

  • M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree
  • Current active medical license issued by the State of Ohio or eligible for license
  • Appropriate medical credentialing through the Medical Staff Services offices
  • Completion of all required pre-employment activities
  • Associate Professor appointment or eligibility required
  • Generally requires a minimum of five years of service at the Assistant Professor rank

  • Provides faculty coverage as needed within the department.
  • May take a role in the development of departmental policies, procedures and standards.
  • Promote interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships and encourage team concepts.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of long and short term goals and objectives and ensures that they are appropriate to the Division.
  • Complete evaluations for students, residents and peers.
  • Scholarly Activity - Participates in scholarly activities as evidenced by: publication of clinical investigation, clinical observations, reviews, chapters or books; participation in clinical trials, and/or clinical investigations; reviews manuscripts.
  • Applies advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research on various areas of clinical specialty.
  • Develop research programs in area of clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding of research initiatives and programs.
  • Assist in the development and growth of new externally funded research initiatives.
  • Publish and/or co-author findings and conclusions resulting from research in a timely fashion.
  • Presents findings internally.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of programs which evaluates the efficacy of treatment.
  • Recommend approaches for improvement activities, recommend and perform new processes, collect and measure data, develop processes based on performance and communicate results.
