The Academic Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in the coordination and administrative activities for medical student and residency/fellowship programs within the assigned department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Under the general direction of the Program Director, this position is responsible for a wide range of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of residency programs. The coordinator will independently manage various administrative functions, including curriculum development, rotation scheduling, clinical supervision, personnel management, and the evaluation process. This role also involves organizing conferences, call schedules, and maintaining personnel and evaluation records, which are essential for the effective functioning of the residency programs. In addition to these responsibilities, the Academic Program Coordinator will administer the recruitment, application, interview, and selection processes for new residents and fellows. They will coordinate welcome orientations for incoming house staff and fellows, as well as manage graduation activities and the separation process for outgoing house staff. The coordinator will also oversee special projects that involve collaboration between the Chairman/Program Director, faculty, residents, outside vendors, and affiliated hospitals. Acting as a liaison, the coordinator will facilitate communication between residents and fellows and residency programs at various affiliated hospitals, health centers, and community physician practices, ensuring compliance with CSMC and external agency regulations. The position requires a proactive approach, demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with physicians, administrators, vendors, and coworkers. The Academic Program Coordinator may also provide administrative support to the Program Director, establishing and maintaining office management systems, disseminating information, and ensuring adherence to policies and reporting requirements. This role is vital in maintaining personnel files, generating residency verification materials, monitoring expenses and budgets, and serving as an advisor to residents, fellows, and students regarding various issues related to their training and development.
