Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with Cardiac Ultrasound on-the-job training and registry with >5 years experience, or Technical School Diploma from a Cardiac Ultrasound program and registry within a year of hire.
  • Less than 1 year experience performing adult cardiac ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of cardiac ultrasound physics and cardiac anatomy & physiology.
  • Skill to use various ultrasound machine makes and models for optimal images.
  • Ability to prioritize patient care and use critical thinking.
  • Ability to demonstrate eye-hand coordination, mechanical, and analytical aptitude.
  • Ability to position patients for optimal images and transport ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to support a patient in an emergency situation.
  • RDCS-Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer ARDMS or RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI within 1 Year.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 30 Days.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Cardiac Ultrasound program and registry, or Bachelor's Degree in Cardiac Ultrasound program and registry.
  • Less than 1 year experience performing adult and pediatric cardiac ultrasound, Stress Echocardiography, and TEE in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operates cardiac ultrasound equipment and performs high quality cardiac ultrasound imaging (echocardiography) for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Performs high quality Transthoracic and Stress Echocardiography imaging studies per protocol on adult and geriatric patients.
  • Conducts patient meet/greet, reviews history and supporting clinical data, and prepares patients for procedures.
  • Monitors patient wellbeing during tests and takes action in case of potential medical problems.
  • Develops documentation including Technical Sonographer Report.
  • Provides proctoring/training for colleagues, new hires, students, and interns.
  • Participates in echocardiography performance improvement initiatives and adheres to department policies and quality standards.
  • Communicates appropriately with directors, managers, and colleagues, and follows up on equipment failures.
