Requirements

  • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Associates Degree - Required.
  • Registered in Cardiac Ultrasound preferred.
  • Three to five years Cardiac ultrasound experience required with knowledge of M-MODE, 2-D, COLOR FLOW IMAGING and Doppler.
  • Experience with transesophageal imaging preferred.
  • Experience with stress echo preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional quality cardiac ultrasound procedures including M-MODE, 2D (real time), PW/CW DOPPLER, COLOR FLOW IMAGING, STRESS ECHOES, TRANSESOPHAGEAL AND CONTRAST ULTRASOUND studies.
  • Prepare the patient for examination by explaining the procedure, acquiring demographic information, and clinical history.
  • Correlate symptoms with findings and recognize abnormal pathology.
  • Generate a permanent record of the examination on the digital PACS system and hardcopy.
  • Prepare an initial report for the Cardiologist to read.
  • Notify the cardiologist directly for issues requiring immediate attention.
  • Participate as a member of the Cardiac Ultrasound team, assisting in all aspects of the delivery of services to patients and physicians.
