About The Position

Atrium Health is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute's Cardiothoracic Surgery program in Concord, NC. This full-time position will focus on providing surgical and medical services in the operating room and inpatient hospital settings. The APP will work independently under the supervision of a physician and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include first assisting in various cardiothoracic surgeries, performing endoscopic vein and arterial harvesting, and coordinating comprehensive patient care. The role requires participation in education and training of APP students and new hires, as well as attending required meetings and development sessions. The position involves a rotating schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and call duties.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Approval to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North and South Carolina
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license
  • BLS and ACLS certification from AHA
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice for Nurse Practitioners
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Certification from a nationally recognized certifying body for Nurse Practitioners
  • ACNP or AGACNP certification required
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred
  • Cardiothoracic or vascular surgery experience required
  • Ability to perform thorough history and physical assessments

Responsibilities

  • Provide first assistance in cardiothoracic surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic vein and artery harvesting

  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Participate in education and training of APP students and new hires
  • Attend required meetings and development sessions
  • Work independently with strong decision-making skills
  • Communicate effectively with team members and patients
