About The Position

Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute – Charlotte, is currently seeking a Full-Time Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to join their established practice in Charlotte, NC. You'll be joining a great team atmosphere with opportunities for autonomy. Our surgeons are readily available and easy to work with. Our busy practice provides plenty of opportunities for continued growth while remaining centrally located. The practice has 12 cardiac and thoracic surgeons across SHVI and 28 surgical APPs at three sites, averaging 1500 cases a year between cardiac and thoracic services. The practice is structured with inpatient, outpatient, and surgical teams and utilizes a closed ICU. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with a supervising physician. You will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician. The candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills and must possess strong communication skills. You will work with a variety of MDs, APPs, and ancillary staff for inpatient management and coordination of patient care. The position involves working in the inpatient setting on a daylight rotating four, 10-hour shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage, anticipating to work 1 weekend every 3-4 weeks. There are no OR responsibilities and no call required, but travel may be required to other sites. Procedures include bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina.
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
  • BLS/ACLS Certified.
  • Certification from the NCCPA required for Physician Assistants.
  • Acute Care NP Certification required for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical and professional competency appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served.
  • Work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills.
  • Communicate effectively with MDs, APPs, and ancillary staff for inpatient management and coordination of patient care.
  • Perform procedures including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements.
