As a Cardiac Telemetry Nurse at CHI St Vincent Infirmary, the role involves caring for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events, post-procedural, and receiving patients from the Cath Lab PACU. The nurse will also help their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital. The job is dynamic, with evolving patient needs, requiring adaptability and detail-orientation to observe vitals and report early warning signs to a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals. Success in this role comes from enthusiasm to go the extra mile for patients, utilization of critical thinking skills, and strong assessment skills. Continuing education opportunities are offered to support nursing career advancement and clinical nursing skills.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered license to practice in the State of Arkansas
  • 1 year of acute care cardiac experience is required for PRN
  • BLS through the American Heart Association is required within 30 days
  • ACLS through the American Heart Association is required within 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for assigned patients.
  • Administer medications, change therapeutic dressings, monitor vital signs, prep patients for procedural interventions, educate both patient and families regarding the disease process and procedural intervention, and chart with timely documentation
  • Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging
  • Utilization of multiple Nurse Driven protocols allowing some autonomy for the prudent nurse
  • Evaluation and implementation of the treatment plan for the heart failure patient population
