About The Position

A Brief Overview Conducts tests on the cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health team members while practicing CREDO. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and practice utilizing critical thinking skills in performing testing on the cardiac patient.

Allied Health Degree Required
1-3 years Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience Required
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Responsibilities

Monitors patients’ blood pressure, heart rate and EKG using electrocardiogram equipment (QStress) during diagnostic procedures and notifies the physician if the patient is out of the normal range for these measures.
Monitors patients’ comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
Explains testing procedures to patient and families to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
Prepares and positions patients for testing.
Observes gauges, recorder, and video screens of data analysis system during imaging of cardiovascular system.
Conducts Holter monitors and Cardiac Event monitors.
Assists with stress testing (all types), echocardiograms, and other applicable cardiovascular tests to record patients’ cardiac activity, using specialized electronic test equipment and recording devices.
Maintains the white board for schedule organization.
Obtains and records patient identification, medical history and test results.
Prepares reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician.
Attaches electrodes to the patients’ chest, arms, and legs, connect electrodes to leads from the electrocardiogram machine (QStress), and operate the QStress machine to obtain a reading during a stress test.
Adjusts equipment and controls according to physicians’ orders or established protocol.
