Compiles patient history and preps patient for procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or certificate.
  • BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing cardiac monitor analysis.
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer information systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to provide information to patients, and to prepare accurate documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of responsible experience in cardiac testing.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and reviews patient history information prior to testing. Prepares patient and explains procedure. Answers patient questions within scope of authority and alerts the physician or nurse to questions or concerns requiring their attention.
  • Edits directories and performs computer tasks in MUSE cardiovascular information system.
  • Performs exercise tolerance stress testing, including patient prep and explanation, under the direction of the physician. Monitoring vital signs during procedure.
  • Performs cardiac monitor analysis and notifies covering Licensed Independent Practitioner of abnormal findings. Complete end of study report and assigns to appropriate provider.
  • May assist APP by monitoring patient during Implantable Loop procedure. Set up/breakdown of procedure room.
  • Proficient in using monitoring device that will capture rhythms, blood pressures and pulse ox readings during Tilt testing. Must know operation of Tilt Table.
  • Responsible for gathering patient information pre-Tilt and ILR procedures.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and repairs of various equipment, including, but not limited to, EKG (Electrocardiogram) and ETT (Exercise Tolerance Test) equipment. Contacts Clinical Engineering as needed.
  • Completes required documentation for all tasks, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Receives and directs phone calls.
  • Schedules appointments as needed and directed by clinicians.
  • Ensures tests and procedural prep information is provided to patients.
