About The Position

The Cardiac Sonography Faculty member is responsible for instructing and assessing students in the Cardiovascular Sonography Program at Sacramento Ultrasound Institute. This part-time role involves delivering didactic and clinical courses, evaluating student performance, and ensuring the quality of the educational experience through effective coordination of lab and clinical activities.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited program in Cardiac Sonography or equivalent.
  • An academic degree not lower than an associate degree, at least equal to that for which the students in the program are being prepared.
  • The equivalent of two years of full-time clinical experience as a cardiac sonographer and vascular technologist.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI certification.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and assess students in didactic and clinical courses in the Cardiovascular Sonography Program.
  • Maintain lab experience curricula to align with state and national guidelines.
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are met as defined by the syllabus.
  • Implement course policies to foster a conducive learning environment.
  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the program, including scanning protocols for the lab.
  • Assist the program director in formulating program, lab, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Engage in programmatic and accreditation activities.
  • Deliver training on scanning protocols in the lab to complement didactic lectures.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for students and staff in clinical settings.
  • Ensure all objectives are met during clinical rotations and document clinical competencies.
  • Communicate effectively with the program director, staff, and peers.
  • Assign grades to students and maintain lab equipment.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and incorporate them into program offerings accordingly.
  • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
