About The Position

The schedule for this position will be fairly flexible and we are open to schedule discussion to ensure the schedule fits your availability if possible. Job Purpose River Hospital's Cardiac Sonographers are responsible for preparing patients and diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures. They will also explain procedures to patients, help the physicians interpret the data from the images and determines which images should be saved or should be discarded. Cardiac Sonographers may also be responsible for ensuring that records are kept properly.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Allied Health or 2 year equivalent (equal or related)
  • BS or BA preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required
  • Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Must maintain continuing education credits as outlined by certification
  • It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession.
  • It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue.
  • The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State for the particular profes sion.
  • Prolonged standing and waling up to 75-80% of the day.
  • Frequent lifting, puling, pushing of equipment and patients.
  • Ability to life portable equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Environmentally controlled medical office environment.
  • Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations.
  • May wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves or a mask.
  • Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public.
