What You'll Do As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will report to the Director. Under the general supervision of the performing physician, you'll perform cardiac ultrasound non-invasive diagnostic studies of the heart and/or other related studies. Cardiac Sonographer Job Responsibilities Perform Cardiac Ultrasound Tests: Conduct 2-D, 3-D, M-Mode, and color doppler tests. Patient Interaction: Prepare patients for tests, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort. Data Analysis: Record accurate imagery, perform calculations, and provide preliminary findings. Equipment Management: Maintain and transport ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is clean and functional. Scheduling and Coordination: Assist with scheduling and coordination of the echo lab and physician schedules. Emergency Response: Use your knowledge of cardiac diseases to handle emergencies and notify physicians as needed. What You Bring As a Cardiac Sonographer, you bring knowledge of general anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles of ultrasound, basic mathematics, and medical terminology. You will know detailed normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy. You will know the cross-sectional anatomy of all imaging planes, techniques for recording all sector images, and distinguish normal from abnormal findings. The Cardiac Sonographer will have a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac disease processes and be able to deviate from standard techniques when necessary to extend the scope of the examinations appropriately to eliminate abnormalities. You will know the function of equipment controls and techniques used in all types of echocardiograms, and have sufficient skill in the performance of these techniques to produce a complete anatomic and functional record for the physician to interpret. You'll be competent in making quantitative calculations from the Echo data acquired. Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Continuing education through college-level coursework and/or specialized technical training in cardiac ultrasound.
  • Credentialing: One of the following is required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in adult and/or pediatric echocardiography through ARDMS, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International), with active registry status.
  • Registry-eligible candidates may be considered but must obtain the required credentialing within 2 years of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic EKG interpretation skills and knowledge of related cardiac testing is preferred.
