About The Position

The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.

Requirements

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required).
• Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred).
• Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
• Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
• On call hours required.
