The position involves performing prescribed non-invasive cardiology testing on identified patients and proactively supporting efforts to ensure delivery of safe patient care and services while promoting a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited cardiovascular program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nursing, or healthcare-related field.
  • 1 year of experience as a cardiac sonographer.
  • 1 year in a full-time pediatric cardiac sonography position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiac sonographic procedures producing scans of highest diagnostic quality through evaluation and selection of proper machine settings and patient positioning.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines for various age groups.
  • Identifies pediatric cardiac anomalies as obtained through cardiac sonography.
  • Gathers patient history and information pertinent to the exam to assist in diagnosis and communicates to cardiologist.
  • Utilizes assigned Syngo picture archiving and communication system functions accurately.
  • Ensures accuracy of all patient documentation and billing for all procedures.
  • Maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Cardiovascular Credentialing International registered status.
  • Participates in lab performance improvement activities.
  • Ensures patient safety and quality of care/service provided.
  • Operates all cardiac sonography equipment according to specification.
  • Assists physicians, nurses, and other staff when requested or required.
  • Provides on-call services as defined by cardiac sonography lab.
  • Performs advanced cardiac sonography procedures.
  • Participates in clinical research.
