About The Position

A Cardiac Sonographer is a specialized healthcare professional who uses ultrasound imaging technology to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating heart conditions. This role involves performing echocardiograms to evaluate the structure and function of the heart and surrounding blood vessels. Studies are performed in outpatient/clinic setting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program.
  • Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI.
  • 5-10 years of clinical experience in echocardiography is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Proficiency with ultrasound imaging equipment and software, including digital reading/reporting software.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures, including Transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), Stress echocardiograms, and Contrast and 3D echocardiography (if applicable).
  • Capture high-quality images and analyze findings for interpretation by physicians.
  • Review patient history and clinical information to ensure appropriate procedures are performed.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document procedures, results, and patient information accurately in medical records.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of the cardiac care team.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations.
